love yourself compassion

Valentine’s…………………

Galentine’s ……………………….

Palentine’s………………………..

Depending on how you feel, today is another one of those nose against the window pane kind of days.  I am not against romantic gestures.  In fact, I swoon just like everyone else, and do get a little green with envy at times (I am empathetic but human).

Just like some other holidays on the calendar, it seems like many people are having a better time than some of us.  But, instead of isolating, what if we went all inclusive?  How about caring for ourselves for a change because we tend to care for others’ feelings more than our own?  Our sensitivity and empathy is how we express ourselves in the world, but it also means we feel more deeply and tend to obsess.

Find something that makes you feel good. Whether it is a fragrant cup of coffee, a good book you have been waiting to read, some chocolate or jewelry for yourself, or a walk in nature, it can be a day to restore and refresh your spirit.  Don’t berate yourself with would’ve, could’ve, should’ves or think that you are any “less” if you did not get a card or breakfast in bed today.

Know who you are, and be proud of what you have accomplished, and the introspection that makes you unique.

There are some people who value ego, power, and control more than raising the level of healing in the world.  I am always amazed to see the pain someone would rather cause easily, creating distrust or negativity, than do the “hard work” and care about others. We were created to love and kindness is our natural setpoint.

Those that are driven by their ego would rather tear down an idealist.  We understand the desire and need to be compassionate and empathetic to others. Look around at the world we live in, and the millions of daily tragedies, and tell me that ego is better.  Thinking of others means change and hope can occur. Imagination is used to create solutions not divisions.

Everyone desires to be valued and appreciated, but empathetic people are able to do that for others with no other motive other than to raise someone else’s self-esteem.  There is more than enough possibility and creativity in the world for everyone to succeed in some way.

If you find it in your heart to care for someone else, you will have succeeded.
