I am writing to satisfy my desire to communicate, cogently and thoughtfully, even if it is only to myself. As a citizen of the USA and Canada, I am friendly, opinionated, and clean. Only one member of my family reads my posts and I don’t even have to bribe him.

“To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
I said that in my yearbook in 1984. It is still true to me today.

In my daily life, I see too much and feel even more. There must be a reason I am where I am. Hopefully, I have been a help, or a source of comfort and kindness, in the thousands of face-to-face meetings I have had.

I am new to blogging but very flattered for the kind words and sharing. I did not expect to enjoy this so much, but I am pleased with some of my posts and the warm reception of this community. Too bad, I don’t know how to change all the themes, add ons, etc.

  2. Those who stop by and leave positive comments make me feel special indeed.

  3. Dear theempathyqueen, I have enjoyed your writing greatly and share your approach. While writing in a foreign language I may stumble on a grammar or style usage, but hope the heart will help me to talk correctly. I think our correspondence could help me to learn faster. I would greatly appreciate your comments and remarks. Hope you would have a good time on my blog too. The original artwork starts each my post so the browsing through my archives would be like visiting the online art gallery.

    • Thank you so very much!! It is always special to find a kindred spirit. By the way, the tagline is by Dr. Seuss! Quirky fun for everyone!

  8. I try to remember the tagline when I struggle for understanding or to be understood. It helps to put things in perspective for me to remember.

  9. Love your tagline. Speaks volumes.

  17. I’ve recently said to a sister, I am more empathetic than sympathetic. She does not understand.
I have been looking at your more recent posts and will follow your journey. I see many similarities between us.

    • Hi just Deb

I am very flattered by your comment. The majority of people I have met don’t understand what being empathetic truly means and how it affects us in our daily lives. I look forward to hearing more about your journey and ideas too. All the Best!!

  18. I have just discovered your site and am amazed at how closely your thoughts align with my own – I have always felt that empathy is one of the greatest gifts bestowed on me. It has always saddened me to see so little evidence of it in my journey over the years. I don’t know you and yet I feel like I have discovered a new friend – so awesome! (one other coincidence is that the tulip is my favorite flower so your page makes me feel very much at home!)

I look forward to reading more in the days ahead –

    pj 🙂

    • Hi PJ,

I am so glad that you feel comfortable here! I find that many people don’t understand the emotions and feelings of empathy. I know it has brought out suspicion and other negative reactions from those who literally don’t have a clue. If you are empathetic, you can understand right away. It really is a special gift and ability and always a joy to find like-minded people like yourself. Thank you!

  19. Although I ‘follow’ you in my reader, is there a widget on your page which I can click to I am notified of your posts via email? Thanks, m

  20. Thanks for the visit.

  21. I am so happy to have stumbled upon your blog! I love the quote you chose as your tag line – its Dr. Seuss. I have it posted on my quotes page bc I love it too!! 🙂

    • So glad you are here! I am looking forward to reading through your posts and I love quotes too. Stay safe & warm where you are!

    • Thank you for your support and for reading my posts. I am enjoying your sketch style as I go through your site!

      • Oh honey, I’m so intrigued to know something about this wonderful sketch, that is your gravatar. Did you make it? I adore it. Thanks a million for your visits and for your comment. I’m so proud you stopped here.<3

      • I wish I was so talented to be able to sketch! This sketch was done by Julie Verhoeven and it was used to illustrate some gifts for MAC cosmetics in 2012.

      • Don’t matter, the worth is for your choice. Some masters made some works after other artists. In this case your gaze has been a true artist too. Thanks for your reply. Best wishes ❤
