For me, lyrics have always had a poetry to them. Enjoying the singers and songwriters of the 70’s and 80’s, the lyrics had meaning and could be shared with friends and others who might enjoy it.

This song is an anthem that will engage you and bring you out of your carefully constructed walls.

There is light in each person no matter how deep it has been pushed down. There is a reason you are here, even if you don’t know why.

For those who cannot or will not speak, find your spark.
For those who cannot or will not listen, learn.

“Brave” by Sara Bareilles

You can be amazing
You can turn a phrase into a weapon or a drug
You can be the outcast
Or be the backlash of somebody’s lack of love
Or you can start speaking up
Nothing’s gonna hurt you the way that words do
When they settle ‘neath your skin
Kept on the inside and no sunlight
Sometimes a shadow wins
But I wonder what would happen if you

Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave

Everybody’s been there,
Everybody’s been stared down by the enemy
Fallen for the fear
And done some disappearing,
Bow down to the mighty
Don’t run, stop holding your tongue
Maybe there’s a way out of the cage where you live
Maybe one of these days you can let the light in
Show me how big your brave is

Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

And since your history of silence
Won’t do you any good,
Did you think it would?
Let your words be anything but empty
Why don’t you tell them the truth?

Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
See you be brave

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you

I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you

Thank you for stopping by. It means more than you know.

Today, I was thinking about resilience as we choose to keep moving forward while things around us seem to be stagnant, or worse, moving in the opposite direction from where we want to be.

We are strong, but pushing forward takes more energy and courage than most people know or will choose to recognize.  It is easy to put someone down, talk behind his back, bully, follow the crowd, take the easy road.  Fear of suffering and experience holds us back from reaching for a better future.  But, it is far more difficult and noteworthy to stand up and say “This is not who I am.  I know my truth and those people don’t actually know me.  They are just critics, but they will not stand in my way.  I will not be defeated because that would bring them more joy than seeing me succeed.”

May you find inspiration, a ray of sunshine, a welcoming smile, a kind word, hope……

I saw this post this morning and loved the quote by Paul Coelho.

“Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams.” – Paulo Coelho I dare say that we are all afraid of suffering in one way or another – be it through pain, embarrassment, failure, or…

sensitive

Still trusting is an act of bravery despite the dark times and the betrayals.  Resilience, in spite of words to harm and humiliate, is a strength.

Our history and experience creates empathy for others that need our support and encouragement.  We move beyond the superficial and look for people who are honest and unafraid to express themselves honestly.

Every day that you get up and push yourself to move forward shows just how brave you are.  It isn’t easy, but keep going.  Show ’em all just how strong you really are.
